Travis is one of Cape Town, South Africa’s hottest up-and-coming directors. A true filmmaker at heart, Travis has been infused with a passion for art, culture and a rare ability to connect an audience with emotive, inspiring and touching human stories.
Having starred in his first revue at age 9, directed his first school play at the age of 11, and made his first documentary at age 15, it’s quite clear that he was destined for a life in the entertainment industry.
“You have to love what you do. It’s that simple. It’s the only way your job will become your destiny. I’m in love with film and TV. Not in a mistress on the side kind of way… Full on married to the industry.”
Armed with a degree in Motion Picture Medium, Travis has written, directed and produced more than 20 short films (Some of which have gone on to receive much critical acclaim); directed and produced commercials, television pilots, television series and music videos all within a few short years… And he’s only getting started.
Aligned with his personality as a “continuously energized global citizen,” Travis’s next foray into the world of feature filmmaking and high-end T.V. series’ is sure to launch his career onto an international platform. He is currently in development with 3 feature film projects, slated to begin production in 2014 with prolific South African producers Junaid Ahmed and Helena Spring and the National Film and Video Foundation.
With a rapidly expanding resume that includes directing T.V. Series for both the SABC and DSTV channels Kyknet and Mzanzi, along with an incessantly growing client list, it’s no wonder that his vision of a sustainable local film industry intertwined with an international distributing platform is edging closer and closer.
“I want something called an EGOT.” Enough said.
