Over the last 2 years, Nommer 37 has racked up numerous awards, including Best Directors (Travis Taute & Nosipho Dumisa) and Best Script (Daryne Joshua) at the 2014 Silverskerm Film Festival; a staggering 7 awards at the Independent Mzanzi Short Film Festival, including Best Directors and Best Film; and most recently, the short film achieved the highest South African accolade in the form of the 2016 SAFTA for Best Short Film. Now, the incredible journey continues…

Nommer 37 has recently been selected to participate in the 6th edition of the PANORAMA DES NUITS EN OR (also referred to as ‘Golden Nights 2016’), organized by the Académie des César (the National French Academy of Cinema). From the 27th of May until the 15th of June, the PANORAMA presents all the short films that have been rewarded by their National Academy of Cinema during the year (Oscar, BAFTA, SAFTA, etc.), in 9 European capitals and in Montreal during a special event co-organized in each city by the Académie des César and the National Academy of Cinema. It is an extraordinary journey around the world of Cinema, enabling the discovery of different cultures and tomorrow’s filmmakers, shedding light on the diversity of worldwide films. This year, Directors Travis Taute & Nosipho Dumisa have been invited to participate on an 11-day Tour of Athens, Rome and Paris, with the tour culminating at the Nuits en Or Gala Dinner to be held at UNESCO on the 13th June.

This extraordinary achievement is a fitting bookend to the short film’s success and comes weeks before the feature film version of Nommer 37, based on the same concept, directed by Gambit Films’ Nosipho Dumisa and produced by Gambit Films and Kalahari Film and Media, heads into production in July 2016.
