Current Projects

July 2011

Documentaries:

Gambit recently produced a Wildlife Game Documentary, shot on location in the Olifants River Game Reserve, which was directed by Simon Beesley. The project is currently in post-production with a release date scheduled for early next year.

Short Films:

Gambit Films in association with CFX commenced shooting the short film Breakfast on Apocolypse in January this year, helmed by Director Daryne Joshua with legendary industry veteran Mike Snyman as the Director of Photography. The long-running project will resume it’s final stages of production in the next couple of weeks before settling into post-production with a completion not scheduled as yet.

Gambit is also in development for another short film called, Skrep ‘n Yster, a sci-fi action film about an other-worldly robot discovered in a metal scrap yard by a group of young vagrants. Shooting is set to kick-off in December with Daryne Joshua directing and Travis Taute producing in association with CFX and Homebrew Films.

TV:

Gambit recently completed shooting a pilot for, “The Grad Life,” a revolutionary dramedy about a group of friends that work in the service industry struggling to navigate their way through the murky waters of becoming an adult. The pilot written and directed by Travis Taute and produced by Nosipho Dumisa has been commissioned by the VUZU Channel on DSTV and should hopefully go on air early next year.

Gambit alums Daryne Joshua and Travis Taute have both been signed on to write various scripts and pitches for the established HOMEBREW FILMS in Cape Town. Scripts that include wildlife documentaries for the National Geographic and Discovery Channels along with projects that are still in development for both MNET and the SABC channels.

Gambit in association with Cape Toon Animation is in pre- production for an action -based animation series called, “Trickster.” Watch this space as we work towards taking this project to mip.com – the world-renowned film festival in Cannes, France, taking place in October 2011.

Feature Films:

Gambit Films writers Daryne Joshua, Travis Taute and Nosipho Dumisa are currently in the script development phase for a slate of Feature Films, which will hopefully head into production in late 2011. Stay tuned for continuous updates. This is part of a joint venture with the recently established writing academy, IGNITION CREATIVE AGENCY.
