BRADLEY JOSHUA
CEO and Executive Producer

With a focus on Business development and growth through content, Bradley is the force behind the exponential growth of Gambit Films. He drives the Vision, Mission and Strategy to continuously grow Gambit Films in the ever-changing global Film and Television Industry. Through his leadership, clear direction is set for business success. At Gambit Films, Bradley is currently producing seasons of TV for Netflix, Amazon and Multichoice.

On the feature film side, he produced the critically acclaimed thriller i.e., NOMMER 37 (NUMBER 37) which had its World Premiere at SXSW and received North American distribution with theatrical releases in New York and LA. His latest feature, action film, INDEMNITY, which had its World Premiere at Fantasia International Film Festival and is now being distributed world-wide by Magnolia Pictures.

NOSIPHO DUMISA
Writer, Director & Producer

Nosipho Dumisa-Ngoasheng is an award-winning writer/director and co-founder at Gambit Films who was also named among the 2019 Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans.

She co-directed the award-winning short film titled, Nommer 37 (Number 37) in 2014. As writer-director of the feature length motion potion, of Number 37, Dumisa-Ngoasheng enjoyed a world premiere at SXSW International Film Festival 2018, going on to win the Cheval Noir Jury Award for BEST DIRECTOR at Fantasia International Film Festival, later that same year. In 2020, Netflix released the YA smash hit drama series, Blood & Water, as the second original African Netflix series. Produced by Gambit Films with Nosipho Dumisa-Ngoasheng as lead director and Showrunner, the series was an international hit and is currently in its 4th season of production. Recently, Dumisa-Ngoasheng was one of the directors for the incomplete Showtime drama adaption of KING SHAKA, executive produced by Antoine Fuqua.

TRAVIS TAUTE
Writer, Director & Producer

Travis Taute is a Cape Town-based writer, director and executive producer at Gambit Films, a company he co-founded in 2009. An AFDA Graduate (2008), Travis’s drive for creative excellence through genre-defining entertainment is wired into his DNA, forming a key component that enables the continued growth and success of Gambit Films. A wildly ambitious storyteller, his love for the medium has seen some of his work win numerous awards, including the 2015 SAFTA for Best Short Film (Nommer 37) which, he co-wrote and co-directed. He’s a producer on the popular local soap drama, SUIDOOSTER, which has already aired over 1800 episodes on broadcast television (2022 SAFTA Winner – Best Soapie) as well as a principal director and writer on the hit Netflix series, BLOOD & WATER (2021 SAFTA Winner – Best Drama Series). Travis’s debut feature film, INDEMNITY, a breakneck South African action thriller, premiered at the Fantastia International Film Festival in Montreal Canada, in 2021; and he recently served as the Principal Director & Showrunner on the Netflix series, UNSEEN which, launched globally on the platform in March 2023.

BENJAMIN OVERMEYER
Producer

Benjamin Overmeyer has worked in the film industry for over 20 years and is currently co-owner, executive producer and producer at Gambit Films. Most recently Benjamin was producer on Netflix’s South African hit series “Blood & Water” & “Unseen”. Benjamin has also produced 2 independent feature films, His most recent being “Indemnity” (Action thriller), his first being “Nommer 37” (Thriller). Gambit Films has also produced over 1800 episodes of its daily drama “Suidooster” broadcast locally.

Benjamin’s experience in the television, film and radio industry goes back to Music Television. As a production coordinator, he was one of the key parties involved in the early days of the now popular, CHANNEL O. His experience at various levels of film and television production brought him to take on productions such as HOME AFFAIRS, THE LAB, HARD COPY, and ZONE 14 amongst many others. With a bachelor’s degree in Film and Media Production from UCT, Ben joined GAMBIT FILMS to become the new Head of Production and COO where he has since produced documentaries and commercials; worked as a fixer for the BBC and is currently in development with a slate of projects across various genres and formats, both locally and internationally.

DARYNE JOSHUA
Writer, Director & Producer

Daryne Joshua was born and raised in Cape Town. He was educated at Livingstone High School after which he eventually went on to major in Film Directing and Writing at AFDA Film School. For many years he lectured on Cinema and Film Studies at Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

He is a founding member of Gambit Films. His feature film debut was the multi-award winning crime biopic CALL ME THIEF which was selected as the South African entrant to the 89th Oscar Academy Awards.

His sophomore film, ELLEN, was a hard-hitting drama and debuted internationally at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and the Seattle International Film Festival. It was one of the longest running South African films at cinema for the last 10 years. ELLEN also made the long-list for the category of Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes in 2018.

Daryne is the co-creator of the hit Netflix Originals, Blood & Water and Unseen.

SIMON BEESLEY
Film Editor & Director

Simon Beesley is a highly accomplished Film Editor and Documentary Director, and a founding member of Gambit Films.

Simon’s unwavering passion for storytelling and his innate ability to tackle creative challenges have propelled him to excel across various creative mediums. He has garnered acclaim for his editing work on critically acclaimed feature films such as Indemnity, Nommer 37, and Noem My Skollie. The latter was even selected as South Africa’s official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars in 2017. Notably, Simon received the prestigious SAFTA award for Best Film Editing for his outstanding contribution to Nommer 37. Furthermore, he has made significant contributions as one of the key editors behind the phenomenal success of Blood & Water and Unseen, both highly popular Netflix productions.

Driven by an unwavering dedication, Simon is also a passionate Documentary Filmmaker who aspires to tell thought-provoking and captivating stories from diverse corners of the country and the world. He has directed numerous impactful documentaries and docu-series, including the award-winning “Op seer se Spoor” (Multichoice), which received the esteemed SAFTA award for Best Factual Entertainment. In addition, Simon has helmed projects for Redbull TV, where his flagship documentary, “The Rise of Us,” captivated audiences and became one of the most-viewed documentaries on the streaming platform.
