Established in 2009, Gambit Films is an independent, multi-award-winning Film and Television production company that develops and produces world-class entertainment.

We one of the foremost and formidable Film and Television production companies on the African continent, whose films and television series have been consumed by millions worldwide. The company has produced over 2000 episodes of television the latest of these being the globally successful “Unseen”, “Blood and Water” and Blood Legacy, for streaming giant Netflix. Soon after its release on the Platform, both “Unseen” & “Blood and Water” broke into the Netflix Global Top 10 for most watched series around the world, “Unseen” hitting top 10 in 70 Countries.
Our Feature Films have premiered and competed at many festivals around the world including SXSW, Seattle International Film Festival, Fantasia International Film Festival, and Rotterdam International Film Festival to name a few. Our latest film “Indemnity”, a propulsive action film, is being distributed globally by Magnolia Pictures

Bradley Joshua

CEO & Executive Producer

As the CEO and Executive Producer of Gambit Films, Bradley Joshua has been instrumental in the growth of Gambit Films and increasing its global visibility, having produced over 2,000 episodes of television, including notable projects such as the Netflix originals, Blood & Water, Unseen and Blood Legacy, as well as much loved South African daily drama series, Suidooster.

On the feature film side, Bradley produced the award-winning suspense thriller Number 37 (Nommer 37), which premiered at SXSW Film Festival, was distributed globally and had limited theatrical releases in New York and Los Angeles. He also produced the action film Indemnity, which had it’s world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival and is distributed globally by Magnolia Pictures.

His outstanding achievements in both television and film have helped establish the Gambit Films brand as a reputable name in the global market. Additionally, his membership in the International Emmys reflects the quality, energy, and passion he brings to international storytelling. Through all these achievements, Bradley Joshua continues to expand the scope and influence of Gambit Films in the entertainment industry with a commitment to quality and innovative content.

Nosipho Dumisa-Ngoasheng

Director, Writer, Showrunner & Disciple

Nosipho Dumisa-Ngoasheng is a film and television Director-Writer, Showrunner and Producer at Gambit Films, which she co-founded in 2009, focused on producing original genre content that would resonate with audiences around the world.

Nosipho co-directed the SAFTA award-winning short film titled, Nommer 37 (Number 37) for kykNET’s Silwerskerm Film Festival in 2014. The short film was realised as the feature motion picture of the same name in 2017, which was Nosipho’s debut feature film – both written and directed by her. Number 37 had its world premiere at SXSW International Film Festival in 2018, becoming the first full South African production to ever have a world premiere at SXSW. In 2015, Dumisa-Ngoasheng also became a Creative Producer on the local daily soap drama, Suidooster.

Her Young Adult drama series, Blood & Water, is the second original Netflix series to come out of Africa and had its debut in May 2020 going on to release 4 hit seasons and chart in the top 10 Netflix Global Series including the US, UK, Brazil and France.

In 2023, she embarked on directing an episode on the epic period drama series, King Shaka (CBS).

Amongst her many accolades, are winning the Cheval Noir Jury Award for BEST DIRECTOR at Fantasia International Film Festival in 2018 and being named among the 2019 Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans.

Travis Taute

Writer, Director & Executive Producer

A Co-founder of Gambit Films since 2009, Travis Taute has worked as a writer, director, and executive producer in the South African film and television arena with remarkable success. He is the director and writer of Indemnity, a debut feature-length South African action drama that screened at the Fantasia International Film Festival in 2021.

He was the showrunner for the Netflix series Unseen and Blood Legacy, which both made the Global Netflix Top 10.

Travis was instrumental as the director and writer of the successful Netflix series Blood & Water, which garnered a SAFTA for Best Drama in 2021. He co-wrote and co-directed the short film Nommer 37, which won the SAFTA for Best Short Film in 2015. He also served as a producer of the popular local soap opera Suidooster, which has aired more than 2000 episodes and won the 2022 SAFTA for Best Soap.

This focus on unrestrained storytelling and genre-defying entertainment is one that the ambitious Travis Taute has always brought to Gambit Films, making clear the direction that modern South African cinema and television is developing in.

Benjamin Overmeyer

COO & Executive Producer

Benjamin Overmeyer has worked for over 20 years in film, television, and radio industry. His skills have been instrumental in producing major productions such as the South African hit Netflix series Blood & Water, Unseen and Blood Legacy. During these time at Gambit Films, Benjamin has also produced 2 independent feature films, his most recent being “Indemnity” (Action Thriller), his first being “Nommer 37” (Thriller). In addition, he has worked on the iconic local daily television series Suidooster for more than 2000 episodes.

With a production coordinator position at Channel O, Benjamin played a crucial role in the early growth of the channel. He worked on many successful productions, including Home Affairs, The Lab, Hard Copy, and Zone 14. He has also worked with the BBC as a ‘fixer.’ He is also a  graduate of the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Media Production.

While heading the companies operational side of production, Benjamin is a huge support to our production teams and improving systems.  Holding the position of COO at Gambit Films he is focused on expanding the company’s slate to include almost every possible medium, its content, and its geography.

Daryne Joshua

Writer, Director & Executive Producer

Daryne Joshua was born and raised in Cape Town. He majored in Film Directing and Screenwriting at AFDA Film School. For many years he lectured on Cinema and Film Studies at Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

His feature film debut was the award winning crime biopic CALL ME THIEF (Noem My Skollie) which was selected as the South African entrant to the 89th Oscar Academy Awards.

His sophomore film, ELLEN, was a hard-hitting drama and debuted internationally at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and the Seattle International Film Festival. It also made the long-list for the category of Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes in 2018. Daryne was awarded Best Director for a Feature Film at the South African Film & Television Awards for his work on the film.

Daryne is a co-founding member of Gambit Films and the co-creator of the Netflix Originals, Blood & Water and Unseen.

Simon Beesley

Film Editor & Director

Simon Beesley is a highly accomplished Film Editor and Director, as well as a founding member of Gambit Films. With a deep passion for storytelling and a keen ability to navigate creative challenges, Simon has established himself as a leading figure in the film and television industry.

His expertise in editing has been recognized across multiple critically acclaimed feature films, including Indemnity, Nommer 37, and Noem My Skollie—the latter of which was South Africa’s official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2017 Oscars. His work on Nommer 37 earned him the prestigious SAFTA award for Best Film Editing.

Beyond feature films, Simon has played a pivotal role as one of the key editors behind the global Netflix successes Blood & Water and Unseen, both of which have captivated audiences worldwide.

As a passionate filmmaker dedicated to telling thought-provoking and compelling stories, Simon has also made his mark as a director. His work on the award-winning Op Seer Se Spoor (MultiChoice) earned a SAFTA for Best Factual Entertainment, while his projects for Red Bull TV—most notably The Rise of Us—garnered significant viewership, cementing its status as one of the platform’s most-watched documentaries.

With a commitment to elevating stories from diverse perspectives, Simon Beesley continues to push creative boundaries, bringing unique and impactful narratives to the screen.
